OpenCart to PrestaShop Migration

Switching from OpenCart to PrestaShop is a chance to tidy up your catalog and prepare the shop for further development. I will review the available data, migrate products and categories, and configure the agreed payment and delivery methods. I pay particular attention to product options and the extensions used in your current shop.

How much does a migration from OpenCart to PrestaShop cost?

  • Up to 999 products: €275 net.
  • From 1000 products: €410 net.
  • Customer and order migration: individual quote. Not included in either of the options above.

This is the price of a one-off service covering catalog migration and configuration of the agreed payment systems and couriers. Choose the catalog size in the product options. We confirm the number of products and the variant structure from the source data before work begins.

Change your shop's ecosystem while keeping room to grow

OpenCart is also free open-source software, so I do not present this migration as freedom from a mandatory subscription for the engine. PrestaShop may be the better choice if its modules and way of managing the catalog suit your plans better. We compare the cost of both solutions together with hosting, maintenance and the extensions you need.

What does catalog migration include?

I analyze names, descriptions, prices, identifiers, images and the category tree. Separately, we decide which OpenCart options should become PrestaShop combinations and which should become features or additional fields. This way the import does not squeeze different kinds of data into one accidental structure.

  • Products: transfer of the available data, including names, descriptions, prices, images and identifiers, within the scope confirmed after the export has been reviewed.
  • Categories: mapping of the structure and assignment of products.
  • Payments: configuration of the agreed methods using compatible modules and payment provider accounts.
  • Couriers: configuration of the agreed delivery methods and integrations using data supplied by the shop owner.
  • Verification: a check of the import and category assignments, plus a test of the agreed payment and delivery configuration.

What to know before migrating

OpenCart extensions and code modifications do not work directly in PrestaShop. Fields added by extensions, custom options and dependencies between products need to be reviewed before additional work is quoted. Template design and the recreation of functions outside the agreed catalog are not included in the basic service.

This service covers migration to an agreed, prepared PrestaShop environment. It is not a complete shop project built from scratch. Hosting, the domain, paid licenses for PrestaShop modules, payment provider fees and shipping costs are not included in the migration price. Unusual integrations and additional work are confirmed before we begin.

How does working together look?

  1. We define the scope. You send me the address of your current shop, the number of products, the list of payment and courier methods, and the required features.
  2. I review the data. I verify the available export and how products, categories and variants will be mapped.
  3. I migrate the catalog and configure the integrations. The work takes place in the agreed target environment.
  4. We verify the result. We check the catalog and the purchase path before the agreed launch.

Customers, accounts and order history

Want to migrate customers or orders as well? I will prepare an individual quote after reviewing the available data, addresses, statuses and relationships. Password compatibility and the ability to keep logging in require separate verification. Please do not send personal data through a regular contact form; we will agree on how to hand the data over before the work starts.

Migration and SEO

Changing platforms may change product and category URLs. Before launch, it is worth agreeing a map of old and new addresses and the scope of 301 redirects. A full SEO migration, an audit and ranking monitoring require a separately agreed scope. I do not promise an automatic improvement in rankings, nor a migration without any fluctuation in traffic.

Will every OpenCart option become a PrestaShop variant?

Not automatically. First we determine whether a given option changes a specific product variant or serves, for example, personalization. Only then do we choose the right way of mapping it and confirm the scope. Additional modules or unusual data transformations may require a separate quote.

Define the scope of your migration

Send me the address of your OpenCart shop, the catalog size and the payment and delivery methods you use. Let me know whether you also want to migrate customers and orders. Contact me about migrating to PrestaShop.
