Payment gateways for PrestaShop
Looking for the ideal payment gateway for your PrestaShop store? A PrestaShop developer reviews his 4 favourites: Przelewy24, Tpay, Paynow and PayU. Like many people, you are probably looking for the ideal payment gateway for your PrestaShop store. A payment gateway is really one of the pillars of successful ecommerce. Thanks to it we get fewer abandoned carts and more transactions on our account.
As a PrestaShop developer I have worked with a dozen or so gateways – I think I have installed, configured and helped troubleshoot problems with launching all the available ones. Of course, some have had updates since then and may look different now than, say, a year ago when I last dealt with them.

One of my favourite gateways – admittedly also one of the most expensive, but it is the current market leader. The largest number of customers and the highest brand recognition. It offers a commission of 1.29% + 30 gr per transaction on promotional terms.
I rate the module 4.5/5 - The biggest drawback is of course the final order summary, where we have to click "pay" twice. Fortunately, this can be turned off in the options. You can choose which payment methods are displayed "on top" when placing the order, so the customer can quickly and easily pick, for example, BLIK.

Second place goes to the Tpay gateway, because it went the extra mile and offers fully on-site BLIK payments in the shop, without unnecessary redirects to the bank's website. During checkout we can enable the BLIK widget and get a field for entering the BLIK code. Here too I have a registration discount for you and a commission of 1.10%.
I rate the module 4/5 - The only drawback is lower recognition. The module's authors update it often and care about security.

Third place goes to the Paynow gateway, because it of course offers the lowest commission: 0% for 60 days, then gradually rising to 0.95%. It is, however, a little-known payment gateway of mBank. A definite plus is the speed of payouts, because the money lands straight in our bank account (provided we have an account at mBank).
I rate the module 4/5 - The only drawback is lower recognition. The module's authors update it often and care about security. We must have an account at mBank to use this payment gateway. The module itself works correctly. There were also tests on moving BLIK outside the payment step.

In 4th place is the PayU gateway, because it of course offers the highest commission, or, under a promotion, one equal to Przelewy24's. The same goes for the activation fee, which without a promotion is €46. The module itself works sometimes better, sometimes worse. Once there was a problem with it because, lacking updates, it stopped working on my client's website. Well, it happens.
I rate the module 3.5/5 - The module's authors only occasionally release updates. Once one of the leaders, it is slowly losing its shine to the gateways listed above.

Which gateway to choose for PrestaShop?
I'll leave that to you, but I'll let you in on a secret ;) you don't have to choose just one. I always advise my clients to use two gateways. One from the well-known Przelewy24 and PayU duo, and another, for example Tpay or Paynow, where we have a lower commission. By default I also set up the shop so that the payment with the lower commission is preselected during checkout. If a customer has reservations, they will simply choose one of the payment leaders.
